Dr Rowan Nichol
Dr Rowan Nichol grew up mostly in the north of Kwa-Zulu Natal, she completed her High School in Pietermaritzburg. After a gap year in which she was priviliged to serve aboard a mercy ship, the Anastasis, she then attended medical school at the University of the Free State. After completing her internship and community service years she then worked as a private General Practitioner. She then received the opportunity to specialise in Neurology and by so doing found her niche in the medical fraternity.
Within neurology she enjoys assisting patients with movement disorders,(Parkinson's disease, Chorea, dystonia) neurodegenerative conditions (Alzheimer's disease, motor neurone disease), the inflammatory/auto-immune conditions (Myasthenia Gravis, Neurolupus, Polymyositis) as well as the various epilepsies. She especially enjoys treating children presenting with neurological disease.
She regularly attends appropriate congresses and conferences in order to remain updated with the most recent developments in the neurological and clinical sciences.
On a personal note she has a love for making music, be it on the piano, guitar or flute, and enjoys being outdoors with her husband and two sons. She also loves reading, spending time with the horses and going for outrides with her family.
